| THE PROGRAM UNDERWAY
As of January 1, 2006,
the Office of Parks Bond and Greenspace has acquired approximately
2228 acres for new parkland and greenspace in DeKalb.
With funding coming mainly from
the Parks Bond Program,
and private grant sources (Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation),
DeKalb has secured nearly $150 million
just for the County parks system. The County has more than doubled the total
existing parkland. By spreading the County’s financial
resources throughout DeKalb, every community will benefit
from the new network of trails and parks.
Acquisitions as of November 11, 2005
